Souls eager to arrive at union with God must accept, without excusing themselves, every correction or rebuke, even if not wholly deserved, and even if wholly unjust. It takes great humility to find oneself unjustly condemned and be silent, and to do this is to imitate the Lord, who set us free from all our sins.
- Teresa of Avila

I like this quote. It resonates with a number of things I've been thinking about recently. Where exactly is it from?

I was looking up mass readings and discovered that EWTN's site includes quotes like this for each day, so they happened to have this one for last wednesday, on this page. It struck me too... right in the firm base of pride that I have built up in me.

So painfully counter-intuitive, yet so obviously Christlike.

The theme for this meme is: using the 26 letters of the alphabet, express who you are, what you do, your interests, what matters to you etc. You have to write it within 26 minutes. I haven’t seen this anywhere else before, though I’m sure it’s so obvious an idea that other bloggers have done it before!

This particular portion of the quotation is very poignant, with me at least. What is said here is why wrests with many issues often. Finding humility has been a chore.
